One Night Outside The Door

I have seen may people sleeping outside. On footpath, beneath the tree and many places. They don't have a home to sleep. But what people like you and me will do when asked to sleep outside. Nothing strange but have to do when you have no other option.

Recently i visited a place and inform my friend that i will be there around 11:30PM as my flight was late. As usual he agrees and confirmed me to keep something for dinner.

I landed there and informed him that i will be there in next 30 minutes by taking a pre-paid taxi. It took around 40 minutes to reach the house due to some road construction in my way.

I get down from the taxi, took my bag and marched toward the second floor where my friend stays. i was so hungry that i couldn't resist myself and walked very first towards his door.

Knock... knock...
Knock... knock...
Knock... knock...Knock... knock...

no answer...

Dialed his number....

again and again

Knock... knock...
Knock... knock...

Dude open the door....

Still no answer...

All went in vein...

Tried for almost 30 minutes but he was sleeping as if the grandson of Kumbhakarna.

Then i lost my hope and started thinking of what to do at this midnight.

There will not be any restaurant open where i can have some thing. Even the main road is too far as he is residing in a colony. There is no friend who stays nearby whom i can call to pick me from there too.

I have stayed outside many times during the NCC or scout camps. But first time in life i had to sleep outside the door of house. Luckily i had some news paper of A3 size(Thank to Bangalore Mirror) i had inside my bag. I had no other option to put those 6 sheets on the ground and to sleep as i was hungry and sleepy too. Whole night i spend with mosquitoes and other flies.

It was really bad day but was an experience for me to understand the poor who sleeps on footpath. Next day i saw movie "Jolly LLB" and felt that i was at least got a nice place to sleep where people in India are not getting that even.
